How does school assignment work in GCISD?
In GCISD, students go to a set school based on where they live. The district posts printable elementary, middle and high school boundary maps. If an address sits near a boundary, it asks you to call 817-251-5200.
Can you transfer to a different GCISD campus?
GCISD updated its transfer rules in February 2025. Transfers are frozen at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Transition years are the exception. The only resident transfer option listed is Cannon Elementary, a GCISD STEM school.
The Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast lets students earn a high school diploma and a two-year college degree. It has its own application. Texas also has public charter schools, which enroll by application.
Where do you find official school ratings?
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) posts official district and campus ratings at txschools.gov. Look up each district and campus that serves your address there.
TEA's 2026 ratings list these overall district scores for the 2025-26 school year:
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD: A, 91 out of 100. Carroll ISD: A, 93 out of 100.
These are district results only. Campus ratings vary, so check each campus tied to an address.
School districts also set the largest share of your tax bill. GCISD kept its rate at $0.8686 for 2026-27. See property taxes in Grapevine and the Grapevine community guide.
How do you verify the school district for an address?
Check the district's boundary maps. If the address is near a line, call the district with the exact address. Pay extra attention in northwest Grapevine, where Carroll ISD serves some homes. Verify school assignment for any address directly with the district.
