The pros and cons of moving to Frisco, TX come down to a fast-growing city with major venues and newer homes. On the other side are traffic, construction and a car-based commute. Here is a balanced look.

Pro: What sports and entertainment are in Frisco?

Frisco hosts the Dallas Cowboys' headquarters at The Star. FC Dallas plays at Toyota Stadium, home of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. The Frisco RoughRiders play at Riders Field. PGA of America's headquarters is in the north, and Universal Kids Resort opened on July 1, 2026.

The Frisco Discovery Center houses the National Videogame Museum, and the free Frisco Heritage Center preserves historic buildings.

Pro: How many parks does Frisco have?

The City lists more than 60 parks. The Frisco Athletic Center has more than 100,000 square feet indoors, including an indoor aquatic center. Grand Park is a planned 1,011-acre park, and its first phase is due in fall 2027.

Frisco Commons Park has an amphitheater, a pond and a splash pad. Northwest Community Park covers 122 acres of restored prairie with a bike park.

Pro: Are there plenty of newer homes?

Yes. Frisco grew about 18% from 2020 to July 2025, by Census estimates. North Frisco still has active building in Fields and other communities. That means more choice if you prefer a newer home.

Pro: What homestead relief does Frisco give?

The City gives a 20% homestead exemption with a $5,000 minimum. Owners 65 and older or disabled get $80,000 more, plus a tax freeze.

Pro: Is medical care close by?

Several hospitals operate in Frisco. They include Texas Health Frisco, Medical City Frisco and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco at PGA Parkway. Confirm which are in your insurance network.

Con: Can I get around Frisco without driving?

Not easily. Frisco has no DART rail, and GoZone rideshare covers only about a third of the city on weekdays. The average commute is 28.6 minutes, according to Census data.

Con: How much road construction is there?

Growth brings road work. The City is widening PGA Parkway to six lanes from Preston Road to Coit Road. It is also widening the Dallas Parkway frontage roads. Expect lane shifts in the north for some time.

Near The Star, Toyota Stadium and Riders Field, game days bring heavy traffic. Universal Kids Resort adds visitor traffic in the north. Check event patterns near any home you like.

Con: Why do taxes and schools vary so much by address?

Frisco spans two counties and four school districts. Some Frisco ISD campuses at capacity send new students to a nearby school. Spring hail and winter freezes are regional risks too.

Buyers often weigh the lack of rail, heavy traffic and road construction, and event-day crowds on the roads. School district and county also differ by address. Hail is a regional risk.

Is Frisco still growing?

Yes. The Census Bureau estimates Frisco grew from 200,509 residents in 2020 to 236,955 by July 2025, about 18%. Most new building is in the north.

How far is Frisco from DFW Airport?

The Frisco Economic Development Corporation lists DFW Airport as 25 miles away. Most drivers use SH 121, and travel time depends on traffic.
