North Fort Myers school ratings and districts are simple on the district side: one district, the School District of Lee County, serves every address. Assignment is the part that takes explaining, because Lee County uses choice zones rather than a single attendance boundary. Which school district serves North Fort Myers?

The School District of Lee County runs all public schools in North Fort Myers. For the 2025-2026 school year, the district reported an overall "B" rating in its July 1, 2026 school grades report. How does school assignment work in North Fort Myers?

Elementary and middle schools use a Proximity Plan. Parents rank the schools in their proximity zone, and a lottery fills seats using preferences such as siblings and distance.

High school uses three large choice zones, West, East and South, each split into sub-zones. North Fort Myers is north of the Caloosahatchee, in the West zone. Its sub-zones include North Fort Myers High, Island Coast High, Mariner High, Cape Coral High and Ida S. Baker High.

Registration for the next school year opens the first Monday in November through the FOCUS parent portal. Children who live within two miles of their school are not offered district bus service.
