Estero school ratings and districts start with the School District of Lee County. It runs the traditional public schools in the village. Assignment uses the district's proximity plan and choice zones. Check each address.

Which school district serves Estero?

The School District of Lee County serves all of Estero and the rest of Lee County. The Village lists Pinewoods Elementary, Three Oaks Middle and Estero High as the public schools in Estero. But actual assignment follows the district plan. For 2025-2026, the Florida Department of Education gave the district a grade of "B". The district reported this in July 2026.

How are students assigned to schools in Estero?

Elementary and middle schools use a Proximity Plan. Parents rank the schools in their proximity zone. Seats are filled using preferences such as siblings and distance. High school uses three large choice zones: West, East and South. Each is split into sub-zones.

Registration for the next school year opens the first Monday in November. Use the district's FOCUS parent portal. Applying on the first day gives no edge. Placements are made after the window closes.

What choice, magnet and charter options exist?

The district offers magnet and advanced programs. These include International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, FGCU Collegiate and the arts. Each has its own application. Charter schools in Lee County use public funds but are privately run. Each has its own governing board and its own application process.
